Outbound stands for outgoing. Intelecommunications, an outbound call is a call made by an agent to a call partner.

Such an outbound call originates from the call agent, whereas inboundcalls are incoming calls.

Outbound calls are primarily made by call agents in call centers and are aimed at potential prospects. Thematically, outbound calls can deal with product innovations, enhancements, services or more generally with telemarketing, sales promotion and lead generation. The telephone activities are generally carried out for external clients.
