optical fiber, conductive (OFC)

Open Fiber, Conductive(OFC) is a designation for fiber optic cables that contain electrically conductive parts and components such as moisture barriers, shields. Reinforcements or grounding wires. Corresponding FO cables with metallic components must be grounded for safety reasons.

If they can be used for plenum applications, they carry the designation Open Fiber, Conductive, Plenum (OFCP) and for riser applications the designation Open Fiber, Conductive, Riser (OFCR).
