Operational Intelligence (OI) is an approach to analyze data and make business decisions in real time.

Operational Intelligence analyzes information flows and event data and integrates them directly into the system flow.

Through data analysis, business processes become transparent giving affected employees immediate insight into business operations. Employees who are in contact with customers can use the OI information directly and dedicatedly, react to customer inquiries and make appropriate decisions. This applies especially to employees in field service, call centers, goods distribution, logistics and online marketing. Operational intelligence has evolved from business intelligence( BI).
