The term OpEx (Operating Expenditures), which is often mentioned in connection with network operations, is a balance sheet-related key figure. Operational Expenditures are current expenditures for the operational business for a computer, system, network
or device. Ongoing expenses include rentals and leasing costs, energy and especially personnel costs, costs for maintenance and support, consumables, supplies and raw materials. Other OpEx costs include consulting costs, software licenses and maintenance costs. OpEx costs are operating costs that are accounted for in full.
In addition to operational expenditures, OpEx for short, there are the costs of capital employed for long-term investments, the capital expenditures (CapEx).
