The Open Smart ChargingProtocol (OSCP) is a protocol used in smart grids and in smart charging of electric vehicles that transmits forecasts about the available capacity of the power grid to other systems
. It involves determining the medium-term energy demand and communicating the capacity requirements of household appliances and electric vehicles to the central system of the charging station operator, Charge Station Operator (CSO). Using the OSCP protocol, the medium-term energy demand is determined and the required capacity demand is derived from it. To protect the system from overloading, it works with budgets that are allocated to individual consumers. Charging stationproviders can adapt the charging profiles of electric vehicles to the available charging capacity.
