Open MediaFramework Interchange (OMFI), as it is actually called, is a data exchange format for editing and project data of audio productions and video productions.

OMF data is platform-independent and can be exchanged between different digitalaudioworkstations( DAW) and editing programs. They consist of containers into which various data formats can be embedded. All embedded data formats are listed in the header of the OMF file. In addition, the SMPTE time code and the track information.

The originally proprietary OMF, developed by the video software company Avid, is supported by well-known audio and video technology companies.
