open host controller interface (USB) (OHCI)

The Open HostController Interface (OHCI) is a driver software with which a host controls the USB interface. Furthermore there is the Universal Host Controller Interface( UHCI) and the Enhanced Host Controller Interface( EHCI).

OHCI was specified by Compaq, Microsoft and National Semiconductors for USB 1.1 with a data rate of 15 Mbps. In contrast to UHCI, the OHCI controller is faster because it realizes part of the tasks in hardware.
