open grid service architecture (OGSA)

The Open Grid Service Architecture (OGSA) is an evolution toward an architectural model for grid computing and cloud computing that is conceptually based on Web services technologies. The OGSA architecture was specified Global Grid Forum( GGF), which was renamed Open Grid Forum( OGF) in 2006.

The OSGA architecture is intended to integrate different Web services, such as e-business and e-science, that are distributed on different platforms and use different resources. This integration can be technically extremely challenging because different services are offered on the different platforms. The Open Grid Service Architecture uses the Web Services Description Language(WSDL) to define the interfaces, conventions between services, and mechanisms for creating sophisticated systems for distributed applications.

The compatibility of the OSGA specifications is given by the use at manufacturers of storage products and servers.
