online service computer interface (OSCI)

Online Service Computer Interface (OSCI) is a standard with a universal file exchange format tailored to the requirements of e-government. OSCI is used for the legally binding processing of transactions in e-government via the Internet, including digital signatures. This requires extensive interoperability of the content data of the transport and security functions. OSCI is used in Germany for transactions in the public sector, for example to standardize the registration system.

Essential for OSCI is the secure and traceable message transmissionvia the OSCI transport protocol. Based on proven international standards, in particular XML Encryption for encryption and XML DSig for digital signatures, the message formats were defined in such a way that they meet the requirements of the standards applicable in Germany and Europe.
