object reference

The object reference is a term from object-oriented programming. It refers specifically to a pointer to an object. In typed object-oriented languages, each object reference is restricted to objects of specific classes. Due to polymorphism, an object reference can point to instances of the class assigned to it or to one of its subclasses.
