- Noise is composed of a large number of oscillations that are non-periodic and have no frequency correlation. They are an infinite number of individual oscillations that can have any shape and are closely related in frequency. There is an infinite variety of noise variants, the best known of which is noise. Noise can be recognized in the Fourier transform by a continuous frequency spectrum, since the frequencies occur randomly.
- In sound, there are several evaluation criteria for noise, such as roughness and sharpness. The roughness indicates how irregular and thus how disturbing a sound is, the sharpness evaluates the sounds at higher frequencies, which become noticeable as disturbing hissing.
