The linking ofwebsites via backlinks can be influenced by the linkjuice. If the link popularity is high, the link juice is divided according to the quality of the linking websites. High-quality websites receive a larger share of the linkjuice than lower-quality websites.

If the linkjuice flow to a website is to be interrupted, then the rel attribute can be set to nofollow in the HTML tag: rel="nofollow". This interrupts the linkjuice to the corresponding web page. The nofollow attribute ensures that search engines do not include this link in the calculation of link popularity. The Nofollow attribute has no effect on the distribution of linkjuice to the remaining linked web pages.

Links over which the linkjuice should flow to other websites are marked with a Dofollow attribute.
