new industry text format (NITF)

New Industry Text Format (NITF) is a document format for the exchange of press news. It was based on the Standardized Generalized Markup Language( SGML) and unified agency and press releases. In a later version it was converted to XML.

Most press agencies worldwide work with this uniform file format, which was developed specifically for news texts.
