new European driving cycle (NEDC)

The New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) dates back to 1992 and was new when it came into force, especially as it extended the test focus beyond urban driving at the time.

The New European Driving Cycle was not designed to measure pollutant emissions and fuel consumption and was replaced by the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure( WLTP) in 2017 for these and other reasons.
