network on demand (NoD)

Network on Demand (NoD) is a demand-oriented network concept that is based exclusively on demand and usage: On the number of users, the data volume, the radio coverage areas of the WLANs, the distances between the stations and the access points, the network services, etc.

A demand estimate is extremely critical in that, among other things, the number of users, the data volume and the required data transmission ratescan change enormously at short notice due to the preferred use of streaming media or other data-intensive services. The performance of the network components and that of the network management must be geared to the increasing demands.

The NoD concept is aimed at economical operation of the on-demand network, which should operate on a usage-oriented basis as a pay-per-use service and cover operating costs( OpEx) and capital costs( CapEx).
