network layer security protocol (NLSP)

The Network Layer Security Protocol (NLSP) is an OSI protocol for end-to-end encryption( E2EE) at the network layer.

The Network Layer Security Protocol was derived from the Secure Data Network System Protocol (SDNS), but is considerably more complex than the latter. It is standardized under ISO 11577, and the International Telecommunication Union( ITU) specified it in ITU Recommendation X.273 in 1994.
