network interface adapter (NIA)

A Network Interface Adapter (NIA) is another name for the network interface card( NIC). Such an adapter does not necessarily have to be a network card, it can also be a PC card or a PCMCIA card. Network interface adapters are available for all network and connection types, for WLANs as well as for Ethernet, ISDN, Bluetooth or the DSL methods.
