network element function (ATM/TMN) (NEF)

The Network Element Function (NEF) is used in ATM as well as in the Telecommunication Management Network( TMN).

In ATM, it is a function within an ATM instance that supports transport in the ATM network, for example multiplexing or switching. In the Telecommunication Management Network (TMN), it is a function of a network element that is executed to support network management.
