Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) is a proactive security approach to behavior-based security. The NBA process monitors network behavior and improves network security. Network activity is monitored and potential threats are detected.
NBA procedures monitor specific network parameters during ongoing communications. The data is collected centrally and analyzed offline. NBA programs are designed to reduce the burden on system administrators by providing early warning of specific threats and unusual network behavior. The NBA concept should be seen in conjunction with all other security-related network equipment, such as the use of antivirus programs, firewalls and other malware detection equipment. One aspect of Network Behavior Analysis is the detection of anomalies, which is handled by Network Behavior Anomaly Detection( NBAD).
