network address authority (NAA)

Network Address Authority (NAA) is a 4-bit long data field that is used to identify the control institution that assigns the World Wide Names(WWN) for Fibre Channel( FC).

In the Fibre Channel environment, there are various institutions that assign the WWN names. For this reason, the NAA data field guarantees that the WWN name is unique in the world. For example, a NAA of "1" indicates that it is a 48-bit identifier from the IEEE. In addition, the NAA data field identifies different WWN formats.
