music player

Music players or audio players are programs with which compressed audio files can be played. The compressed audio files are decompressed by the music player in the audio codecs, stored and can then be played in streaming. Music players come in different varieties that differ in their functionality in terms of playable audio file formats, playback quality, music library and its management.

Audio players can be installed on compact handy playback devices such as Apple's iPod, on USB stick players, on personalcomputers and Macintosh. They can already be found in GPS devices that provide voice control to the user, in smartphones, Internet radios, electronic alarm clocks, and also in digital picture frames. Among the better-known audio players is Apple's iTunes, a program that allows audio files to be organized, sorted, stored, played. Other open source programs include Mozilla's Songbird or Microsoft's Windows Media Player or Zune.

The handy music players are equipped with flash memories with storage capacities of 100 GB and more. Some have slots for memory cards and displays for the menu panelwith the control functions and the music library. This display can show the played music track, playing time, artist, playback mode, graphically adjustable equalizer and battery charge status.

Since music players work with efficient audio compressions such as the well-known MP3, mp3pro and MP4 file formats, they are often referred to as MP3 players or MP4 players. However, most music players can also handle other audio file formats such as the lossy AudioCode Number 3( AC-3), Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding( ATRAC), Ogg Vorbis or TwinVQ file formats.
