multirate circuit switching (MRCS)

Classic circuit switching has been further developed, as has data packet switching. Multirate Circuit Switching (MRCS) is one such method, which is characterized by higher bit rates and improved flexibility. In order to realize higher data rates, MRCS bundles several channels and transmits them together. With the MRCS method, transmission rates of a multiple of the basic bit rate can be achieved in transmission technology.

MRCS switching is used, for example, in multirate ISDN, where two B channels are bundled to form a 128 kbit/s channel.
