multirate ISDN

The parallel switching of several B channels for the purpose of increasing the transmission rate

is referred to as multirate ISDN.The individual B channels are switched via different connection paths and synchronised again at the receiver. The connections created in this way have a multiple of the ISDN transmission rate of 64 kbit/s

. Multirate ISDN uses Multirate Circuit Switching (MRCS) and can thus bundle several B channels into one broadband channel.
