multicast server (MCS)

A multicast server (MCS) is a service that manages multiple multicast groups and transmits multicast data from the clients to the multicast groups via point-to-multipoint connections (P2MP). A multicast server can be used to establish point-to-multipoint connections across virtual LANs or broadcast domain to each VLAN segment. The multicast server forwards incoming broadcasts to the multicast addresses.
