momentary interruption/voltage sag (smart grid) (MIVS)

Momentary Interruption/Voltage Sag (MIVS) means short interruption/voltage drop. Smartmeters indicate momentary interruptions.

An MIVS event is indicated by a smart meter when the grid voltage drops by a certain user-defined percentage for more than three cycles. This voltage drop can vary between 10% and 50% from normal. The MIVS event is reported when a programmable number of momentary interruptions occur within 60 minutes.
