mobile to mobile convergence (MMC)
Mobile-to-Mobile Convergence(MMC) is a technology that allows mobile devices to switch from a cellular network to a wireless network automatically, without manual intervention and without using a service provider. For example, a smartphone can automatically switch from a cellular mobile network to a WiFi network.
In contrast to the MMC concept, fixed mobile convergence( FMC) uses a service provider to ensure an error-free, instantaneous transition from a cellular mobile network to a radio network.
MMC convergence works with existing PBXs, is interoperable with wide- area networks, supports seamless roaming between networks, and various services such as e-mail, instant messaging( IM), and customer relationship management( CRM).
