mobile edge computing (MEC)

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a technology used in 5th generation (5G) mobile networks

. Mobile Edge Computing can significantly reduce latency and improve reliability. In this technique, applications are moved from central data centers to the edge of the network and deployed on the edge side of the Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN). This puts them closer to the end user, reducing latency because hosting occurs on the edge side and signals do not have to traverse the longer data path across the core network. There are also fewer node computers on this data path.
