Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS) or Backend as a Service(BaaS) is a development architecture that provides developers with tools in a cloud for the development of new mobile apps. These tools support, as a front end, the many different display formats and screen resolutions ofsmartphones, tablets and notebooks, and their different form factors and operating systems.
The backend, on the other hand, provides management services and operational support for mobile computing. It provides access to servers, databases, storage units and other resources via a programming interface with which the applications interoperate.
One of the key challenges in app development is the many different mobile devices, their display formats, screen resolutions and operating systems such as Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, Brew MP, Symbian, MeeGo and others and their different versions. The iPhone alone knows the following screen resolutions: 320 x 480 pixels, 640 x 960, 640 x 1136, 750 x 1,334 and 1,080 x 1,920. The same applies to the iPad tablet with 760 x 1,024 pixels, 1,536 x 2,048 and 2,048 x 2,732.
An MBaaS platform also provides data security through alternative authentication features such as Two-Factor Authentication( 2FA) with biometrics such as fingerprint recognition and with personal identification numbers. This also allows sensitive business transactions to be executed. In addition, the MBaaS platform takes into account corporate compliance regulations. Other aspects include data management and live streaming in social networks.
