miniature duplex connector (optical fiber) (MDC)

The MDC connector, Miniature Duplex Connector (MDC), belongs to the extremely compact VSFF connectors, Very Small Form Factor (VSFF). These FO connectors are only a few millimeters small and are therefore characterized by a high connection density.

VSFF connectors are duplex connectors that can be combined to form multifiber connectors.

Due to the compactness of the MDC connector, the port density can be doubled compared to classic SFF connectors such as the LC connector, depending on the configuration. The MDC connector has a push-pull latch and locks when inserted. The ferrules are made of ceramic. The MDC connector was developed for the optical interfaces ofSFP modules and QSFP modules.
