microwave power transmission (MPT)

Microwave Power Transmission (MPT) is the transmission of power via microwaves.

The concept of transmitting power via microwaves over long distances is intended to power independent flying objects such as drones and also satellites so that they can fly flight missions without interruption, or in the case of satellites, orbit the earth.

In microwave power transmission, a microwave transmitter must generate sufficient energy that can then be transmitted to the receiving object in a highly focused manner. Klystrons, magnetrons and traveling wave tubes are available for generating high transmission power in the microwave range, and phased array antennas are available for radiating the transmission power, with which strong bundling of the radio beam is achieved.
