The MKS system of units, which stands for meter (m), kilogram (kg), and second (s), is a metric system ofunits equivalent to the cgs system of units, centimeter (c), gram (g), second (s). It was expanded in 1939 to include the current unit ampere (A) to form the MKSA system of units and transitioned to the international system of units, Système International ( SI), in 1960.
