mesh link establishment (radio protocol) (MLE)

Mesh Link Establishment (MLE) is a protocol that provides radio links in changing network topologies.

Mesh Link Establishment (MLE) is used in radio protocols based on 6LoWPAN, among others. In such networks based on 802.15.4, the radio parameters such as the received field strength or the channel properties are transmitted separately as a TLV data set(Type, Length, Value). If the connection parameters change, then the MLE protocol dynamically adapts the network to the new conditions.

Each individual network node stores the connection parameters to its neighboring nodes and updates the tables as soon as the connection quality changes.
