measurement result

A measurement result is the measured value displayed by a measuring device for a specific measured object

, which is, however, subject to several influencing variables and uncertainties. It does

not necessarily correspond to the true value.

Since measurements

are subject tomeasurement uncertainties and measurement errors, measurement results correspond to the approximation of the actual measured quantity

. Correctly, measurement results would have to be specified with the measurement error and the measurement uncertainty

.To approximate the true value, measurements can be carried out several times under the same measurement conditions and the mean value and the standard deviation can be calculated from the measured values

. According to DIN 1319, the measurement result is "The best estimate of the value of the measurand.
