management information tree (MIT)

The Management Information Tree (MIT) is a tree structure in which the objects of the Structure of Management Information( SMI) are stored.

The MIT tree structure creates clarity and ensures quick access to the individual objects. The root of the tree structure starts with the standardization bodies ITU and ISO, leads over the network structure like the Internet to the management and the Management Information Base( MIB) for the different protocols like ICMP, TCP, SNMP or UDP.
