low voltage differential (SCSI) (LVD)

Low Voltage Differential (LVD) is a symmetrical transmission technique used in Ultra- SCSI and HyperTransport, among others. Transmission takes place over two cores with signals in phase opposition.

With differential signals, phase shifts are immediately detected as transmission errors. Due to the low voltage of the transmitted signal, crosstalk on neighboring lines cannot occur.

The cable length can be up to 12 m with Low Voltage Differential, but the special data cable must be provided with an active termination.
