low power device (mobile com) (LPD)

Low power devices ( LPD) are radio equipment that is free of registration and fees, can be used by the general public and for which several license-free ISM bands with different frequency ranges are available in Germany.

Low power devices are radio facilities with low power of non-public land mobile radio(nömL). LPD systems have 69 radio channels and can bridge distances between 500 m and 3 km. The preferred frequency range is between 433.075 MHz and 434.750 MHz.

SRD and LPD frequency and power ranges

These wireless radio systems are also known as short range devices( SRD) because they can only be used over a limited range. This results from the permissible transmission power, the frequency range used and the propagation conditions of the radio waves, which may be restricted by topographical conditions. The RegTP has released several frequency bands for LPD systems, whereby operation may only be carried out with the prescribed equivalent radiated power( ERP) of 10 mW.

LPD radios are used in telecontrol, telemetry, remote control, handheld radios, and radio-controlled alarm systems to transmit data signals. They can also transmit audio and video signals over short distances.
