longitudinal time code (Video) (LTC)
The Longitudinal Time Code (LTC) is a time code that includes all time information of video signals: Date, hours, minutes, seconds and full frames. It is frame accurate and consists of audio information that can be stored on magnetic tapes.
The LTC code can be included in the video signal, but it can also be stored as a longitudinal track on the magnetic tape like an audio signal, or it can be transmitted in the vertical blanking interval of the image change. This method is called Vertical Interval Time Code( VITC).
The LTC time code is used for synchronizingvideos; it can be integrated into the video signal and is retained even during fast rewinding. .
