Location-Aware Applications is a modern technology for the provision and use of location-based applications. It is based on the geographical position information of mobile devices, which is usually provided via satellite navigation using the GPS system, but also via mobile communications and WLAN-based positioning systems.

When using location-aware applications, users can see where they are and which way they are going on a street map. If he deviates from the shortest route, alerts can draw his attention to it.
