lobe attachment module (TR) (LAM)

A Lobe Attachment Module (LAM) is a network component that allows up to 20 end devices to be connected to a Token Ring network via Lobe cables. They are available for IBM Type 1 or Type 3 cables and for IBM data plugs or RJ45 plugs.

Functionally, a LAM module corresponds to a Multistation Access Unit( MAU), but more Lobe cables can be connected to it, namely 20 instead of 8. Individual LAM modules can be daisy-chained to form a Controlled Access Unit( CAU).
