link support layer (ODI) (LSL)

The Link Support Layer (LSL) is a layer in the ODI protocol stack, Open Datalink Interface (ODI), that serves as an intermediary unit between the server driver or router driver and the communication protocol.

The LSL layer is an intermediate layer between the network card driver, Multiple Link Interface Driver (MLID), and the protocol stacks for the TCP/ IP protocols and Netware. The link support layer handles routing between these protocol stacks and mediates data packets from the network cards to the correct protocol stack. It also eliminates the hardware and transmission media-dependent influences.
