link support layer (LSL)

The Link Support Layer (LSL) is a layer in the ODI protocol stack, Open Datalink Interface (ODI), that serves as an intermediary unit between the server driver or router driver and the communication protocol

. The LSL layer is an intermediate layer between the network carddriver, Multiple Link Interface Driver (MLID), and the protocol stacks for the TCP/IP prot ocols and Netware. The link support layer handles the routing between these protocol stacks and switches the data packets from the network cards to the correct protocol stack. It also eliminates the hardware and transmission media-dependent influences.
