limit sound pressure
The limiting sound pressure is a characteristic value of microphones. It is the sound pressure of a 1 kHz tone that a microphone can process at a distance of 1 m with a certain distortion factor. When specifying the limiting sound pressure, the distortion factor is given. This can be 0.5% or other values.
Moving coil microphones are superior to other microphones in terms of the limiting sound pressure. Compared to condenser micro phones, a moving-coil microphone can handle about 30 dB more sound pressure without distortion. The limiting sound pressure level of condenser microphones is around 140 dB.
