In information technology, the term legacy system describes an old, established system in company software that is still in use, but in large parts no longer corresponds to the latest developments. In most cases, these are self-developed, cost-intensive systems that could not be replaced for a long time. Often, new software solutions are designed to interface with a company's legacy systems, or the applications are migrated completely.
