lead zirconium titanate

Lead zirconate titanate(PZT) is a ferroelectric material used in ferro-RAMs(FRAM) and as a piezoceramic in piezoelectric transducers.

In ferro-RAMs, information is stored in the polarization of the ferroelectric material, with the lead zirconate titanate as a thin film between two electrodes.

Lead zirconate titanate is also used as a piezoelectric ceramic material for piezo transducers. Doping with impurity atoms can change the electromagnetic properties of PZT ceramics. The technique is applied to piezoceramics to change the hysteresis and thus the remanence.
