The Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language (KQML) is a programming language for knowledge exchange.

KQML, on the other hand, was explicitly designed to facilitate knowledge sharing. Based on performatives, the connection between speaking and doing, in the case of KQML it is the performatives reporting (Tell) and asking (Ask), KQML expresses dialogue by introducing some new tags. KQML uses the Tell performative to tell the network that the user is using a service and composing an email, for example.
