knowledge interchange format (KIF)

Knowledge Interchange Format (KIF) is a computer-oriented language

with the aim of exchanging knowledge between different computer programs. The special interchange format was developed by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). DARPA, which is subordinate to the US Department of Defense, founded a group called Knowledge Sharing Effort (KSE) in 1990. The two group members Richard Fikes and Michael Genesereth are considered the inventors of the Knowledge Interchange Format.
