knowledge interchange format (KIF)

Knowledge Interchange Format (KIF) is a computer-orientedlanguage with the goal to exchange knowledge between different computer programs.

The special exchange format was developed by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). DARPA, which reports to the U.S. Department of Defense, formed a group called Knowledge Sharing Effort (KSE) in 1990. Two group members, Richard Fikes and Michael Genesereth, are considered the inventors of the Knowledge Interchange Format.
