key translation center (KTC)

In key management and distribution, in addition to the certification authorities and the key distribution centers, there are also the key translation centers (KTC).

While key distribution centers distribute the keys to the subscribers, the key translation center decrypts the key of a subscriber and encrypts it with the key that has been agreed with another subscriber. In such a case, the key management works as a rekeying center.

Different security areas under the control of different operators can be interconnected via such a key-change center. In addition, areas with different security requirements can be formed and operated independently of each other.
