key management system (PKI) (KMS)

Key management, Key Management System (KMS), deals with the generation of keys for cryptographic encryption ofdata and authentications.

The tasks of a key management system include data management, distribution, storage and its destruction. Itis such a system that is part of the security infrastructure and works with keys for the public key method and the private key method.

While Key Generation Keys( KGK) are used for key generation, Key Encryption Keys( KEK) are used for key encryption. Key archiving is used to protect against the loss of keys. Critical archiving of sensitive data can be secured using reconstruction methods such as the Escrowed Encryption Standard( EES).
