key distribution center (Kerberos) (KDC)

A key distribution center (KDC) is used to store, manage and distribute keys.

Concept of the Key Distribution Center (KDC)

In Kerberos, such a KDC center consists of the Authentication Server( AS) and the Ticket Granting Server( TGS). The Authentication Server checks in the Kerberos namespace whether the username is authorized to log in. If the check is positive, the Authentication Server generates a session key and a Ticket Granting Ticket( TGT) from the user's password.
