joint electron device engineering council (JEDEC)

The Jedec Solid State Technology Association, known as the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), is the semiconductor standardization body of the Electronic Industries Association( EIA), representing all sectors of the electronics industry.

Jedec was created in 1960 with the initial goal of standardizing discrete semiconductor devices. The scope was extended to integrated circuits in 1970. Jedec thus standardizes all semiconductor memories and memory devices.

Jedec consists of 48 committees led by the Jedec Board. Currently, the organization has about 300 member companies, both manufacturers and users.
